Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Rita Dove talks about poetry in education
Rita Dove, Pulitzer Prize winner and former U.S. Poet Laureate, was in Athens recently for a series of appearances , and sat down for an interview with Melissa Cahnmann-Taylor, an associate professor of language and literacy education, for a 47-minute interview on the use of poetry in education in Cahnmann-Taylor's PoetryCast podcast series. Alum Named 2010 National Middle School Principal of Year
Sheila Kahrs (EdD ’92), principal of Haymon–Morris Middle School in Winder, has been named 2010 Middle School Principal of the Year by the National Association of Secondary School Principals. “She’s a leader who uses data to make informed decisions and empowers her teachers to be leaders so they are motivated to get the most out of students,” said State Superintendent of Schools Kathy Cox.
