Training on the Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking–Figural and Verbal
The Torrance Center offers training on the administration, scoring, and interpretation of the Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking, Figural and Verbal. Efficient, effective, expert, up-to-date training by the Torrance Center assures all motivated learners will receive a certificate of scoring reliability from the Torrance Center for Creativity and Talent Development.
Training:
The training for the Figural requires about 2 days of active training. The verbal can be taught in 1 day to individuals who have mastered the figural scoring. All training requires that participants follow-up by scoring practice protocols to reach scoring reliability.
Follow-up:
- Participants will be given two weeks to score four tests independently and send the scores to the Torrance Center at creative@uga.edu with the subject line TTCT.
- Participants’ scores will be checked by component. For the figural, that is fluency, originality, abstractness of titles, resistance to closure, elaboration, and the checklist. For the verbal, the components are fluency, flexibility, and originality.
- Individuals will receive feedback about which scores were accurate and which were not and need rescoring along with another set of four tests for those who must rescore some components. Trainees will only score the components that they missed on the first set.
- Steps 1-3 will be repeated as necessary to mastery (up to 5 trials), or arrangements will be made with the individual to receive additional training. We will work with any motivated individual to mastery.
When individuals reach mastery, they will be issued a personalized certificate of proficiency by the Torrance Center of the University of Georgia.
The Torrance Center will offer training in Athens several times a year, or at your locale for a reasonable price.

FIGURAL
TRAINING IN ATHENS:
Schedule:
In order to minimize the amount of school days that teachers miss, we begin the training on Thursday evening. The training continues all day on Friday and finishes at about 1:00 pm on Saturday.
Costs:
Registration is $450 per person
Includes all training and materials
Includes morning and evening breaks and lunch on Friday
Does not include lodging (2 nights) and other meals.
TRAINING ON SITE:
Schedule:
Two days 9:00 – 3:30 pm
Costs:
Includes access to copy training materials; scoring guides and norms technical manuals must be purchased by the system from Scholastic Testing Service.
Training locale and schedule as arranged by the local area in consultation with the Torrance Center
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES – Provided by Torrance Center (Registration is approximately $300 per person based on 10-15 participants)
Two days of training, follow-up, personalized feedback for up to 5 trials:
